Connect Questrade, Wealthsimple, CIBC Investor’s Edge or Interactive Brokers read-only, and every closed trade is journaled and written up for you. Priced in Canadian dollars, with what it cannot do stated plainly.
TradeGreen connects read-only to the brokers Canadian self-directed traders actually use:
| Broker | What we can journal |
|---|---|
| Questrade | Stocks and options |
| Wealthsimple | Stocks and crypto |
| CIBC Investor’s Edge | Stocks and options |
| Interactive Brokers | Stocks, options and futures |
Connections are read-only: TradeGreen reads your executed trades and cannot place, change or cancel an order, and cannot move money.
TradeGreen totals your realized gains and losses so you have the record. It does not apply the superficial loss rule, does not distinguish capital gains from business income, and is not tax advice. The wash-sale calculation in the app follows the US IRS rule and does not apply to a Canadian return.
If your broker exposes a registered account through the connection, its trades are journaled like any other. TradeGreen does not track contribution room, and journaling a TFSA does not make frequent trading in one a good idea — the CRA can treat it as business income.
No Android app and no web app. If you trade from a desktop and want a desktop journal, this is not that.
The App Store charges you in CAD and shows the exact local price before you buy. Annual billing works out to roughly a third less per month than paying monthly. Every analysis feature is in every tier — the tiers only change how many brokerages you connect.
Every closed trade arrives already written up: entry, exit, size, fees and profit or loss, with an analysis of how the trade went against that day’s real price action. After a few dozen trades the app can separate the setups that genuinely pay from the ones that only felt good.
The leaderboard is opt-in, percent return only, never dollar figures, and every number comes from read-only broker fills — there is no field anywhere to type a fake result into.
Yes. TradeGreen connects to Questrade read-only through SnapTrade and imports your closed stock and options trades automatically, with entry, exit, size, fees and profit or loss already filled in.
Yes. Wealthsimple connects read-only and stock and crypto trades are journaled automatically. The connection cannot place or cancel orders.
If your broker exposes the registered account through the connection, its trades are journaled like any other account. TradeGreen does not track contribution room and does not give tax advice. Frequent trading inside a TFSA can be treated as business income by the CRA, which is a question for your accountant rather than for a journal.
No. The app totals realized gains and losses for your records. Its wash-sale calculation follows the US IRS rule and does not apply to a Canadian return. Nothing in the app is tax advice.
The App Store shows the exact price in Canadian dollars before you buy, and annual billing is roughly a third cheaper per month than monthly. Every analysis feature is included in every tier; the tiers only change how many brokerages you can connect.
TradeGreen is a journal, not a signal service. It describes trades that already happened in your own account and never predicts markets or recommends what to buy. It connects to your brokerage read-only and cannot place trades.
