Where TradeGreen differs
These points are about TradeGreen only. They are not claims about what Edgewonk does or does not do.
- Read-only broker sync. TradeGreen connects read-only to more than 20 brokers. It can see your fills; it cannot place orders or move money.
- Each closed trade is written up automatically. When a position closes, the app journals it for you, so the record exists even on days you do not open the app.
- Statistics per setup. Win rate, profit factor, R-multiple and expectancy are computed for each of your own setups, so you can see which ones pay and which ones cost you.
- Phone first. TradeGreen runs on iPhone and Android.
- One price. $10/month or $84/year, which works out to $7/month billed annually.
On price: Edgewonk's 12-month plan is $197 (about $16.42/month, before any VAT), and TradeGreen is $84/year, as listed on 7 October 2026. TradeGreen also offers a month-to-month plan at $10; Edgewonk's pricing page shows the 12-month plan only.
When Edgewonk is the better choice
Based on what Edgewonk lists on its own pricing page, it may suit you better if:
- You trade forex, indices or commodities. Edgewonk lists forex, stocks, futures, crypto, indices, commodities and options. TradeGreen focuses on stocks and options.
- You want structured psychology work. A Trading Psychology Lab, checklists and routine tracking are listed. If your review is built around routines and mindset, those are stated tools. Our trading psychology guide covers the data side.
- You like chart-based analysis. Chart Lab and an Automated Edge Finder are listed features.
- You run many accounts. Edgewonk lists tracking unlimited broker accounts.
For those needs, Edgewonk is a reasonable choice.
Questions to ask before you choose
Before you pick either tool, answer these honestly. They matter more than any feature list:
- Will you open it? A journal you never look at is worth nothing. Pick the one that fits where you already are, desktop or phone.
- Is your broker supported? Check both lists for your exact broker before paying.
- What question do you want answered? If it is which of your setups make money, you need setup tags and per-setup statistics. If it is how a trade unfolded bar by bar, you need replay or charts.
- What will it cost over a year? Compare the annual figures, not only the monthly ones, and check the vendor page on the day you decide.
How to switch
Switching does not have to mean losing your history. A sensible order:
- Keep your Edgewonk records. If Edgewonk offers an export, save a copy of your trade history before you change anything. TradeGreen does not import other journals' files, so treat that export as your archive.
- Connect your broker to TradeGreen. The connection is read-only. New closed trades are journaled automatically from then on.
- Tag your setups. Give each trade a setup name so the per-setup statistics have something to group by. If you have never defined your setups, the trading plan template is a good place to start.
- Run both for a few weeks if you like. There is no rule that says you must cancel on day one. Compare what each tool tells you about the same trades, then keep the one you actually open.
If you want to sanity-check numbers by hand while you compare, the R-multiple calculator and profit factor calculator use the same formulas the app does. For a side-by-side of several journals on one page, see TradeGreen compared.
Summary
Edgewonk is a yearly plan at $197 with broad asset coverage, Chart Lab and psychology tooling. TradeGreen is $84/year or $10/month, syncs read-only from your broker on iPhone and Android, and journals each closed trade for you. If what you need most is a record that keeps itself up to date, TradeGreen is built for that. If you want deep psychology and chart tooling across many asset classes, Edgewonk lists exactly that.
